Wall of Shame

Every edition we have checked

Scored against ten red flags. Higher is worse.

We buy these, count the books, and do the arithmetic. Each edition below is scored against the ten tests in our guide to spotting a fake Ethiopian Bible, which explains how to run every one of them yourself in a few minutes. Nothing here is an opinion about a publisher. Every mark is a fact about a book.

A cross means the flag is raised. A tick means we checked and it is clear. A dash means we have not checked yet, and we would rather show you the gap than fill it in with a guess.

And ours, scored the same way. A checklist that never tests its own author is not a checklist, it is an advertisement. So our edition takes the same ten tests, and where it has gaps we print them.

Where ours falls short: Josippon is a documented reconstruction, not a translation from the Ge'ez. Enoch and Jubilees rest on R. H. Charles. Several Church Order books reach English through French and Latin intermediaries. The Didascalia has gaps inherited from its source manuscripts.
